We knew how imperative it was for the viewer to experience the positive work being undertaken by the charity, so we wanted to follow the story of how a donation to the charity is used to fund vital research. We also knew that virtual reality is a great way to tell a story, as it transports the viewer to a new reality, showing something that they’ve never seen before.
Using our 360˚ camera, we set about capturing the work the charity do with a small crew of three - as it was important for us to cause minimal disruption to the working shop and busy laboratory. We transported the viewer to a Tenovus charity shop, where they see a charitable donation being made, and then followed the journey of the donation to a Tenovus research lab, to see how their donation funds the vital work they do.
For viewers that haven’t previously visited a Tenovus charity shop, this experience highlights how easy, simple and welcoming they are. The shop is vibrant and friendly, and through VR, the viewer will feel the effects of this. Although Tenovus offer ‘Lab Tours’, as they are based in Cardiff, it can be difficult for their wider audience to visit. In this experience, the viewer gets to see the busy cancer research lab virtually, without the complication that may be present with a real-life visit.
The content created is now being used by the charity at events far and wide, promoting how Tenovus use charitable donations to fund cancer research.
