Wales Welcome Home Celebration event.

// Football Association of Wales

After qualifying for their first major tournament since 1958, Wales finished top of their 2016 UEFA European Championship group, before going on to reach the semi-finals.

This remarkable journey energised the nation, and the support shown both at home and in France was at times astonishing. The efforts of Chris Coleman’s team demanded recognition, and the Football Association of Wales engaged us to help stage a special Welcome Home Celebration at Cardiff City Stadium.

Following an open top bus parade through a packed city centre, the squad arrived at a sold-out Cardiff City Stadium, for a giant celebration which included performances from a host of Welsh performers, and a headline set from The Manic Street Preachers. Those who were unable to obtain tickets for the event were able to watch the action unfold on TV, with the event broadcast live on BBC1 Wales.

Our work on this project included:

  • Full event management
  • Project management
  • Production management
  • Artist booking and liaison
  • In Bowl activity and branding
  • Scripting and broadcaster liaison
  • Event filming
  • 360 film production

The homecoming event was a spectacular success. The whole project was put together in a matter of days involving a great deal of planning and organisation. It was a fitting celebration and the culmination of a magnificent summer.
